SlideBase vs Postiz for Automating TikTok Slideshows
Postiz schedules slideshows you build with an agent, image model and phone. SlideBase makes them from your app link. Costs, upkeep and when each wins.

Postiz is an open-source social media scheduler that can post TikTok photo slideshows, but it does not write or design them: you bring the slides, usually from an AI agent and an image model you wire up yourself. SlideBase makes the slideshow from your App Store, Google Play or website link and posts it, with no code, agent or spare phone involved. If you enjoy building pipelines and want one scheduler for ten platforms, Postiz is the stronger tool. If you want daily slideshows about your app without maintaining a stack, SlideBase is the shorter path.
This comparison exists because Postiz published a detailed case study of an indie developer automating TikTok slideshows with an AI agent and Postiz, and a lot of app developers read it and asked “is there a version of this I do not have to build?” Postiz prices and features below come from postiz.com, checked November 2026. We make SlideBase; we have tried to be fair to a tool we genuinely like.
What the Postiz slideshow pipeline actually involves
The Postiz blog post “How a Developer Fully Automated TikTok Slideshow Marketing With AI Agents and Postiz” is worth reading in full. Here is the setup it describes, in plain terms:
- An AI agent with a reusable “skill” file that defines the look and copy rules. The author says the model matters less than the skill file, and that defining the look took about an hour up front.
- An image model (Gemini with Nano Banana 2 in the post) that generates the slides, with text overlays added by the agent.
- A stockpile: three posts a day of three slides each, which is 63 images a week, topped up roughly monthly.
- Postiz (via its API, MCP server or CLI) sending each post to TikTok as a draft, because the author found direct publishing got flagged.
- A cheap Android phone (about $50) controlled over Wi-Fi with ADB. A cron job fires five minutes after each scheduled time, the agent opens the draft, picks a trending sound and publishes. TikTok’s API cannot choose audio, which is why the phone exists.
- Account warm-up: three days of normal scrolling and liking on that device before the first post.
The stated costs are the phone and $29 a month for Postiz, plus about an hour of human time per month. The agent and image-model costs are not stated. The result reported for the author’s own app was over 100 downloads and 1,000+ likes from three posts a day through April. That is honest and modest, which is exactly why the post is credible.
It is also a real engineering project. Six moving parts, two of which (the agent prompt and the phone automation) break in ways you only notice when posts stop going out.
Postiz pricing (checked November 2026)
| Plan | Monthly | Billed yearly | Channels | AI images / mo |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | $29 | $23/mo | 5 | 0 |
| Team | $39 | $31/mo | 10 | 100 |
| Pro | $49 | $39/mo | 30 | 300 |
| Ultimate | $99 | $79/mo | 100 | 500 |
Every Postiz plan has unlimited posts, a 7-day free trial, and includes the MCP server, CLI and API. Postiz is open source and can be self-hosted; the pricing page links to the docs and GitHub but does not itself state a self-hosting price. The pricing page lists TikTok as a channel but does not mention slideshows specifically; the slideshow support is documented in their blog and integration pages.
For comparison, SlideBase is Starter $29/mo (200 credits), Pro $49 and Ultra $99. Credits are spent per slide, so a 6-slide post is about 6 credits, and unused credits roll over. The 3-day trial is on Pro and Ultra only, card required. Details are on the plans page.
Same goal, two different jobs
| Step | Postiz pipeline | SlideBase |
|---|---|---|
| Deciding what to say | Your agent and its skill file | Read from your store listing: audience, problem, hook |
| Making slides | Your image model plus overlays; you own the design system | 6 to 8 slides laid out in your brand colours, screenshots on the app slide |
| Caption and hashtags | Your agent | Written per post, plus 5 hashtags |
| Scheduling | Postiz, very flexible, many platforms | Calendar and daily automations for TikTok and Instagram |
| Adding a trending sound | Phone + ADB automation, or by hand | Draft mode: the post lands in your TikTok inbox, you pick a sound and tap publish |
| Platforms | About 30 channels listed on postiz.com | TikTok and Instagram |
| Code required | Yes, unless you only use the Postiz web app with slides you made elsewhere | No |
| When it breaks | You debug it | We do |
The interesting overlap is the sound problem. Both approaches end at the same place: TikTok’s API publishes photo posts but cannot pick music, so the best-performing setups send a draft and let a human (or a phone robot) add the audio. SlideBase’s scheduler supports both direct publishing and draft mode, so you can do the manual-sound step in ten seconds without the ADB part. Our TikTok slideshow scheduler page explains how the two modes behave.

Where Postiz is clearly better
- Breadth. If you post to X, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Threads, Pinterest and YouTube as well as TikTok, one Postiz account handles all of it. SlideBase only does TikTok and Instagram.
- Ownership. It is open source. You can self-host it, read the code and never be locked in.
- Total control of the creative. Your agent, your prompts, your image model, your rules. If you have strong opinions about design and want to experiment with formats like three-slide posts, nothing stops you.
- Volume across many accounts. Unlimited posts and up to 100 channels on Ultimate. At high volume the cost per post can be very low, as long as your image bill stays sane.
- Agent-native. MCP, CLI and API on every plan. If you already live in Claude Code or a similar agent, Postiz slots in neatly.
Where SlideBase is better
- No build step. Paste the App Store or Google Play link and the first post exists. No skill file, no image API key, no spare phone.
- The copy is about your app. An agent writes whatever its skill file tells it. SlideBase reads your listing each time, so a fitness app gets fitness hooks and the last slide names the app with your real screenshots.
- Nothing to maintain. Pipelines fail silently: an expired API key, an ADB connection that drops, an image model that changes its output. With a hosted tool, those are our problem.
- One price. Postiz $29 plus your agent plus your image model plus a phone is a stack. SlideBase is one bill that includes the writing, design and posting.

A cost sketch for one app, three posts a day
Take the Postiz case study’s cadence: three posts a day, about 90 a month.
- Postiz route: Postiz Standard $29/mo, plus image generation (not stated in the case study; depends on your model and how many retries you need), plus agent usage, plus a one-off $50 phone. Time: an hour of setup for the look, an hour a month of upkeep according to the author, more if you are building it for the first time.
- SlideBase route: 90 posts of 6 slides is about 540 credits. That is more than Pro’s 400, so it means Ultra ($99, 1,000 credits) or Pro plus rolled-over credits. Time: reading posts before they go out, and adding a sound if you use draft mode.
At one post a day the picture flips: 30 six-slide posts is about 180 credits and fits inside the $29 Starter. Honest summary: at high volume a DIY Postiz pipeline can be cheaper in cash, and SlideBase is cheaper in hours. For most solo developers, one or two good posts a day is the right volume anyway. Our guide on promoting an app on TikTok explains why consistency beats raw count early on.
Can you use both?
Yes, and some developers will. SlideBase exports every slide as a JPEG or a ZIP. If Postiz is already your scheduler for ten platforms, you can make the slideshows in SlideBase and drop them into Postiz. You lose the one-click flow but keep your existing calendar.
If you are leaning toward a fully custom stack, read our breakdown of the n8n and Blotato carousel workflow too; it is the other popular DIY route. And if you are still choosing a format before a tool, the TikTok slideshow strategy guide covers why photo posts work for apps at all. FAQ
Does Postiz create TikTok slideshows?
Postiz schedules and posts them. The slides themselves come from you, typically from an AI agent and image model as described in Postiz’s own case study. Postiz plans do include some AI image generation from the Team plan up, but it is not a slideshow writer that reads your app listing.
Is Postiz free?
Postiz is open source and can be self-hosted. Its cloud plans start at $29 a month ($23 billed yearly) with a 7-day free trial, checked November 2026. The pricing page links to self-hosting docs but does not list a price for it.
Why do TikTok slideshow automations post to drafts instead of publishing directly?
Because TikTok’s Content Posting API cannot add music, and posts with a trending sound tend to do better. Sending a draft lets you add the sound on your phone and publish. The Postiz case study also says direct publishing got flagged for that author; SlideBase supports both modes so you can choose.
Do I need a phone or ADB with SlideBase?
No. SlideBase posts through the official TikTok and Instagram APIs using OAuth. In draft mode the post arrives in your TikTok inbox, and you add a sound and publish from your normal phone in a few seconds.
Which is cheaper for TikTok slideshow automation?
At high volume with your own image pipeline, Postiz can be cheaper in cash. At one or two posts a day, SlideBase Starter ($29, about 33 six-slide posts) usually costs less once you count the agent, image model and your time.
