Shortimize vs SlideBase: Analyze Viral Slideshows, Then Make Your Own
Shortimize tracks which app slideshows go viral; SlideBase makes them. Pricing, the Stronger case study, and how to use analytics and a maker together.

Shortimize and SlideBase are not really competitors: Shortimize tracks and analyses short-form video and slideshow accounts across TikTok, Instagram and other platforms, and SlideBase makes the slideshows. If you are an app developer searching for a Shortimize alternative because you need posts rather than dashboards, SlideBase is one option: paste your App Store, Google Play or website link and it writes and lays out a ready-to-post TikTok and Instagram slideshow. If you run many accounts or pay creators and need to know which posts drive results, Shortimize does something we do not do at all.
Shortimize prices below come from shortimize.com/pricing, checked November 2026. We make SlideBase and are biased; this piece is written as “use both, in this order”, which is how we think most small app teams should see it.
What Shortimize does
Shortimize is an analytics and creator-management tool for short-form content. From its pricing page and site:
- Tracks unlimited accounts on every plan, with stored video counts and refresh rates by tier.
- Links to account analytics for YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook and Snapchat.
- Includes automated creator payments, which matters if you run a network of paid creators or affiliate accounts.
- Integrates with Slack, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Discord and PostHog, so you can line up views with installs and events.
- Offers API, webhooks and MCP as add-ons on Launch and Scale, included on Enterprise.
It also runs one of the best blogs about consumer-app growth on TikTok, with case studies that reverse-engineer how specific apps grew. Its paid plans do not create content; it has separate free tools such as caption and bio generators.
Shortimize pricing (checked November 2026)
| Plan | Price | Accounts | Videos stored | Refresh | Seats |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Launch | $99/mo | Unlimited | 1,000 (up to 3,000 optional) | 24 h (1 h and 4 h options) | 1 |
| Scale | $249/mo | Unlimited | 5,000 (unlimited optional) | 12 h | 3 |
| Enterprise | Custom | Unlimited | Unlimited | Custom | Unlimited |
Yearly billing saves 20% according to the page; exact yearly prices were not listed. There is a “Start Free Trial” button, but the length and terms were not published on the page.
SlideBase, for comparison: Starter $29/mo (200 credits), Pro $49, Ultra $99. Credits are spent per slide, so a 6-slide post is about 6 credits, and unused credits roll over. 3-day trial on Pro and Ultra only, card required. Details on the plans page.
Analyse, then make: how the two fit
| Question you have | Tool that answers it |
|---|---|
| Which of my 40 posts this month drove the most views? | Shortimize |
| Which creator or affiliate account is worth paying more? | Shortimize |
| Did yesterday’s view spike line up with installs in Mixpanel? | Shortimize |
| What do I post tomorrow? | SlideBase |
| Can I get a hook, slides, caption and hashtags about my app in a few minutes? | SlideBase |
| Can I schedule it to TikTok and Instagram, or send it to my TikTok drafts? | SlideBase |
An honest note on timing: analytics pays off once you have volume. If you have posted ten times, a spreadsheet and TikTok’s own analytics tell you enough. If you have three accounts and five creators posting daily, you need something like Shortimize to see the pattern. Most solo developers are in the first group for their first couple of months.
What a Shortimize case study teaches, and how to act on it
Shortimize’s post “The slideshow strategy that generated 700,000 users in 275 days” breaks down Stronger, a gym workout planner app. The numbers it reports:
- 725 TikTok posts in 295 days, about 2.5 a day, recently up to 5 a day.
- 98% of the high-performing posts were slideshows.
- 11 posts over 1,000,000 views, 24 over 350,000 (about 50 times the account’s median), 85 over 65,000.
- More than 700,000 users (the article’s headline says 275 days; the body says under a year).
Stronger is not a SlideBase customer; we are citing Shortimize’s published analysis. The format it describes is specific: short tension-building text over a founder selfie on slide 1 (“Skipping legs…”, “Grandpa was right”), the app revealed on slide 2 or 3, and hooks and images reused once they work.
Three lessons carry over to any app, whatever tool you use:
- Volume is the strategy. 11 hits out of 725 posts is about 1.5%. You need many posts to find the few that carry the account.
- Reuse winners. When a hook works, run it again with new images. Analytics tells you which ones; then you make more like them.
- Formats differ. Stronger reveals the app early with a face on screen. SlideBase defaults to a faceless structure with the app on the last slide. Neither is “right”; test both against your audience.
That third point is a place where we should be clear about a limit: SlideBase does not put your face in the post. If the founder-selfie format is what works for your niche, take your own photos, and use SlideBase for the faceless posts in between. Our guide to how many TikTok slideshows to post per day goes into volume in more detail.

Turning “what worked” into tomorrow’s post
Here is the loop we suggest for an app team that uses both tools, or uses SlideBase plus TikTok’s free analytics until the volume justifies more:
- Make a week of posts. In SlideBase, generate seven posts from your listing, each aimed at a different audience or angle. Edit any line that does not sound like you.
- Post daily. Schedule them, or use draft mode and add a trending sound on your phone. The TikTok slideshow scheduler page shows both modes.
- Read the numbers at 48 hours and 7 days. In Shortimize if you have it, or TikTok analytics if not. Note the hook, angle and views of each post.
- Double down. Take the top two hooks and make three variations of each. Drop the bottom angles.
- Repeat for a month. Thirty posts is the minimum before you can tell a bad angle from bad luck.
For hook ideas to feed step 1, see 15 slideshow hook formulas for apps and the TikTok hooks for apps page. For the wider strategy, the TikTok slideshow strategy guide and TikTok content ideas for apps are the places to start.

Where each tool is the wrong choice
- Shortimize is the wrong choice if you have no posts yet. A $99 analytics plan with nothing to analyse is money spent early. Make content first.
- SlideBase is the wrong choice if your problem is managing a network of paid creators, or if you need video analytics across five platforms. We do not track performance or pay creators, and we do not make video.
- Both are the wrong choice if you are not ready to post daily for a month. Neither tool replaces consistency.
What the loop costs per month
For a solo developer posting one slideshow a day, 30 six-slide posts is about 180 credits, which fits SlideBase Starter at $29. Adding Shortimize Launch brings the total to $128 a month. That is a reasonable spend once TikTok is a real install channel for you, and a lot of money while you are still finding out whether it is. A sensible order is SlideBase alone for the first 30 to 60 posts, reading TikTok’s own analytics, then Shortimize when you add a second account, start paying creators, or want views lined up against installs in Mixpanel or Amplitude.
Teams already running several accounts are in the opposite position: analytics comes first because they have the volume, and the question is whether making posts by hand is the bottleneck. If it is, that is where a maker earns its place.
Bottom line
Shortimize tells you which app slideshows went viral, yours and other people’s. SlideBase makes the slideshows for your app. If you are starting from zero, start by making posts; add analytics once you have enough posts that patterns hide in a spreadsheet. Other tools that make slideshows are compared in best TikTok slideshow makers for app developers, and the closest prompt-based alternative is covered in SlideBase vs SlideStorm.

FAQ
Does Shortimize create TikTok slideshows?
No. Its paid plans are analytics and creator management: account tracking, creator payments and integrations. It offers some separate free tools like caption and bio generators, but not a slideshow maker in its plans, checked November 2026.
How much does Shortimize cost?
Launch is $99 a month and Scale $249 a month, with Enterprise on custom pricing, according to shortimize.com/pricing in November 2026. Yearly billing saves 20%; trial terms were not published on the pricing page.
Can I use Shortimize and SlideBase together?
Yes, and that is the natural fit. Make and schedule posts in SlideBase, track how they perform in Shortimize, then make more posts like the winners. SlideBase has no built-in analytics, so pairing it with a tracker or TikTok’s own analytics fills that gap.
Is Shortimize worth it for a solo app developer?
Usually not in the first month or two. With one account and under 30 posts, TikTok’s free analytics and a spreadsheet are enough. It becomes worth it when you run several accounts or creators and need to see patterns across hundreds of posts.
What is a good Shortimize alternative for making content?
If what you actually need is posts, a slideshow maker is the alternative, not another analytics tool. SlideBase generates TikTok and Instagram slideshows from your App Store, Google Play or website link and can schedule them through the official APIs.
